For the past two weeks, since Jaguar‘s recent rebranding campaign launched on November 19th, it has captured global attention, sparking both intrigue and criticism.
Departing from its rich heritage, Jaguar has embraced a fresh approach that has surprised many with the release of their “Copy Nothing” promotional video, that did not feature any of their vehicles. Many observers responded swiftly, suggesting that this promotional video might be more suited to a fashion brand. However, it was precisely at this moment that it garnered even greater attention from us.
From the initial launch, which sparked mixed reactions-largely negative and critical comments toward the brand-my perspective on Jaguar’s rebranding effort may differ from the popular opinion, and it remained unchanged as I began writing this article last week. While the criticism is understandable, I believe Jaguar is being judged prematurely. Rash, reactionary judgments rarely align with my perspective, and I firmly advocate for giving their creative and marketing teams the time and space needed to bring their vision to life.
If the goal was to ignite conversation, it has been unquestionably achieved. A review of global Google Trends reveals a remarkable 100% surge in interest in the brand and its new logo, underscoring the campaign’s impact. Searches for both the “Jaguar” brand name and “Jaguar new logo” have hit a value of 100 in numerous regions—a clear indicator of peak popularity on Google Trends.
According to the brand; today, on 2 December 2024, 20:00hrs (U.S. EST), at Miami Art Week, Jaguar will present “Copy Nothing”, the first global public installation for its new brand that will include the physical manifestation of its Exuberant Modernism creative philosophy, in a Design Vision Concept.
Today we’ll all see how things unfold, but one thing is certain: Jaguar has succeeded in making us think and firmly putting its name in the spotlight.
Experimenting a New Design Field
While researching color and design trends for 2025 and onwards for an ongoing project, I decided to step away from my usual focus on fashion to experiment with automotive design as an exception. Since I firmly believe in the process, I chose to focus on the positive aspects of this campaign and explore ways in which I could draw inspiration from this bold move. Although I’ve previously experimented with my favorite AI app, Leonardo AI, across various design fields—from fashion to architecture to automotive, I must say that creating a series of supercar images inspired by a great brand was an incredibly enjoyable experience!
Exploring and imagining potential color and design options for my imaginary concept supercar models using AI has been a fascinating journey. Observing similar concepts-particularly those inspired by Jaguar’s rebranding-emerging across various platforms only fueled my creativity. This encouraged me to develop and showcase my own interpretations, crafting unique color palettes and design ideas for these dream supercars, all brought to life through the power of AI.
With the utmost respect for Jaguar’s talented vehicle designers, I created these imaginary concept models to showcase how their rebranding inspired my own visions as a Fashion Designer. These are all imaginary concept supercar designs; therefore, in compliance with trademark rights, neither the old nor the new Jaguar logo, nor any new design details such as the ‘Device Mark’ and ‘Strikethrough linear graphics’, have been used.
To take a closer look at these imaginary concept supercar designs and more, I invite you to visit and follow my Instagram account at @senay.gokcen, where I’ve recently begun showcasing my AI-driven creative projects as various “DESIGN SERIES”. Join me in exploring a fresh perspective on design, digital art, and the exciting potential of AI.
Thank you, Jaguar, for the incredible inspiration! I have no doubt that your future creations will leave us all in awe.
