Nike is formally unveiling the Air Max Muse, a new silhouette for women that matches style and innovation to create a shoe that embodies futuristic boldness – both looking dynamic and feeling incredible.
Nike footwear teams used computational design to develop the shoe, applying filters of size, shape, texture and Air cushioning to envision a new silhouette that takes comfort and style to the next level.
“This silhouette was designed to surprise women sneaker fans, capturing their attention and imagination with a new application of Air – something they’ve never seen before,” says Can Eldem, Footwear Designer, Women’s Sportswear. “Our goal was to design an entirely new Air Max model focused on both expression and comfort, making the silhouette uniquely hers – sleek, beautiful and bold – while offering the kind of innovation and cushion that she expects from the Air Max franchise.”
The new silhouette – seen on the likes of Nike athletes Jordan Chiles and Qinwen Zheng, along with stylist Veneda Carter – has softly exaggerated proportions and a shape that’s meant to be noticed, drawing attention to the iconic Air technology in the heel. A sleek, semi-gloss finish surrounds the Air unit, further training focus on the shoe’s namesake technology, and a heightened arch adds a distinctive, fashion-forward touch.
A molded synthetic leather overlay creates a foundation for a variety of expressions that inspire ever-evolving style, and the upper offers a juxtaposition of evocative textures and finishes, helping the shoe stand out. All the while, soft touch points are intertwined with technical details to create a unique silhouette that can be styled to meet every moment of the day.
The shoe launches in a silver metal colorway, and an array of distinct colors and textures will follow throughout 2025 to create dynamic footwear options for her wardrobe.
“We wanted to explore how the finishes of the Air Max Muse could enhance the silhouette while also providing her a range of options to suit her evolving style and mood, beginning with our silver metal colorway” says Marya Chan, Materials Design Director, Nike Sportswear. “It was also important for the materials to surprise her, both in how they look and feel, creating a new, modern expression that can be styled in multiple ways to enhance her everyday look.”
The Air Max Muse will be available exclusively across select Nike retail partners beginning December 11. The shoe will launch globally January 10, 2025, on SNKRS, with additional colorways and styles to come in 2025 and beyond.
