Pantone Color Insider is available globally and integrated as a new feature to the Pantone Connect product suite to provide a full-service digital experience from inspiration to design realization.
Pantone launches Pantone™ Color Insider, a color intelligence service with exclusive trend forecasting and color insights for the creative community.
Pantone LLC, the global authority on color and provider of professional color tools for designers, today announced the launch of Pantone Color Insider, an aesthetically provocative and culturally relevant color centric trend service that unites all areas of design around the world through the shared language of color. Balancing the informative and insightful with the inspirational and innovative, Pantone Color Insider features color trend forecasts and data that will give users insight into what is trending in the short to long-term as well as a macro and local view on key color stories, touching upon all areas of design where color plays a role.
Pantone Color Insider is available as an added feature within Pantone Connect, Pantone’s digital platform, allowing current users the opportunity to incorporate trending color data and insights to their current workflow on the platform.
With the lightning speed of trend cycles highlighting micro-trends, subcultures and new aesthetics, the creative community is experiencing increased pressure to be on top of the world of trend and understand the zeitgeist while also delivering innovative designs and ideas with higher precision and speed than ever before. Color trends are a major part of that process as color increases brand recognition by 87 per cent and influences up to 85 percent of product purchasing decisions. For the creative community color is pivotal from the design and mood boarding process to the raw materials that go into the product and finally to the packaging it leaves the store in, so providing critical color intelligence to help guide these decisions is crucial.
To help with this, Pantone is collating the expertise from the global visionaries at the Pantone Color Institute into a digital experience, combining inspiration with context to provide an in-depth analysis of the personality traits of emerging color stories, their relevance and how they are being applied across different design disciplines. In addition, Pantone Color Insider will have a dedicated editorial team to collect, curate and compose up to the minute color stories that will be impacting and influencing design.
Pantone Color Insider will feature content and data weekly including:
- Expert Trend Insights: Strategic color information and a long-term look at the influences that will affect color in the future inclusive of macro trends, seasonal trends and essential color stories that are relevant and trending to inform and inspire.
- Color Education: Foundational color knowledge to guide color usage including color theory, palette creation, psychology, color and mood, product and brand color selection approach, forecasting trends.
- A global color data tool that provides a quantitative look and “pulse check” on what’s happening in color around the world. This includes topline data that highlights color use across industries and cities, which help inform designers about trending colors and color usage of their peers across design.
- Seamless workflow integration with Pantone Connect, allowing users to create palettes from the content and translate into mood boards and work they currently have on the platform.
“For over 25 years the Pantone Color Institute has been a go-to destination from brands and designers around the world looking to understand the future of color trends and how to inform their own brand and product color choices. Pantone Color Insider gives us the opportunity to take a lot of this information and knowledge and make it accessible to our larger creative community,” says Laurie Pressman, vice-president of Pantone Color Institute. “We believe this content can be an added support for designers to understand the relationship of color to global macro trends and what consumers are looking for to help inspire their design decisions. Never has this been so important, when design is being increasingly led by color and material and less by shape and form.”
Pantone Color Insider adds another layer of actionable expertise to the Pantone Connect platform which contains color IP that helps you execute color in print and manufacturing to create products, packaging and physical media. From color specification to assisting with testing for color blindness, color harmonies, palette creation, mood boards and inspiration, Pantone Connect is a design tool that plugs seamlessly into core design programs and workflows, including being able to be used collaboratively in teams.
“The Pantone Connect platform since its inception has been a collaborative project with our creative community, ensuring that we are listening to their needs and tailoring the product to help with their overall design workflow.” said Jung Sin, Global Senior Director, Digital Product Management at Pantone. “Through these discussions, we saw the need to also further support the research and inspiration stage of the design process. Pantone Color Insider will help designers and the larger creative community have context on what is happening in the world of color and actionable data to help with their color decision-making from the start of a project to ensuring color consistency and excellence at the end.”
Users can have freemium access to Pantone Color Insider’s limited content and basic palette-building or can sign up for two different user options that include: a premium subscription of Pantone Color Insider only that will contain the full suite of trending articles and information, or a bundle of Pantone Color Insider and Pantone Connect which will contain full suite of trend and data features as well as workflow and collaboration tools.
