Marie France Van Damme, the Hong Kong-based designer known for her globally influenced line of luxury resort, swim, and ready-to-wear translated her inspiration this season into a subtle yet striking collection of ‘Dolce Vita’ essentials.
Far from beachwear, the collection returns to the glamorous roots of resort wear with its muted palette of silver and nude highlighted with a hint of platinum and gold metallic sparkle.
Complimented by simple and sharp shapes, the collection is enriched with Marie France’s signature intricate embroideries and black and white essentials.
Opulent fabrics range from French lace to metallic toned Italian weaves and featherweight Chinese silks sourced from the world’s leading artisans. All are combined in the Marie France Van Damme atelier to create effortless glamour.
Minimalism and rationality reflect her vision of modern luxury. The pieces are designed to nurture your “perfect style”. Simplicity, comfort, durability and femininity are Marie France’s signature. Free from fashion diktats, exempt from fashion “faux pas”.
Contemporary, socially and professionally active women rely on Marie France for simple, effortless and elegant attire that supports their lifestyle needs.
Let be it in New York, Singapore, Hong Kong or London, the collection is designed to have a wear anywhere appeal. Signature pieces such as the Boubou caftan provide instant glamour. The French lace long tunic is the perfect go to dress for a bold evening statement.
Retailing from $500 to $2000, the Resort 2017 collection will be available in stores November 2016.
2017 Resort Campaign/Photography
Herbert Ypma of the Hip Hotels series photographed the Marie France Van Damme 2017 Resort campaign in Hong Kong, contrasting subtle and honest sensuality against a black backdrop to accentuate the color palette, fit and flow of the silhouettes. No accessories or jewelry were used during the shoot. Marie France focused solely on the ready-to-wear line to show how a dressed down individual still has the ability to reflect a tasteful sense of style in the comfort of their own environment.
“The black background allows the audience to focus on the model and more importantly the feel conveyed by the clothing, without distraction or so called noise. A luxury in an age where we are constantly solicited with imagery. We do not believe that photographs have to be heavily digitised. On the contrary, we believe in raw beauty with natural sunlight.”
