Cohen & Sons Apparel Forms Strategic Partnerships with Industry Leaders Phoenix Textiles & Blue River Denim
The heritage brand, Cohen & Sons, was founded in 1947. Zach Cohen, the original founder’s grandson, brought the brand back to life as a premium menswear label. In 2014, Cohen launched a successful Kickstarter campaign and the brand has rapidly gained recognition in the premium menswear category ever since. Cohen & Sons continues to gain momentum and is poised to release over 60 new products in the coming year. C&S will be releasing redesigned denim, moisture wicking chinos, technical knits, and wovens. In combination with recent wholesale partners, C&S is now positioned to distribute their products to major retailers across the United States.

“Our partnership with Phoenix Textiles and Blue River Denim allows C&S to become vertically integrated from the thread all the way through the wash process,” stated Zach Cohen, President of C&S.
“This creates a huge first mover advantage in the fashion space as we are now able to innovate more quickly and develop the highest quality level of products, fabrics, and wash styles unlike our competitors. We are also able to create in demand products more cost effectively. Most importantly, we can stick to our roots and manufacture our products locally in Los Angeles.”
Cindy Chang, Special Assistant to CEO of Phoenix Textiles added, “C&S possesses an authentic heritage, unique marketing strategies, talented creative team, and strong product vision. We are excited to partner with the team as we believe the brand will continue to grow rapidly.”
Tony Rodriguez, Chief Executive Officer of Blue River Denim Inc. commented, “We continually seek to innovate with the latest environmentally friendly and advanced wash techniques right here in Los Angeles. We enjoy working with the C&S team because they share our passion for innovation along with our desire to push the limits of our resources to create truly unique products. Our visions are aligned and we design our washes with the understanding that ‘sewing is a science but washing is an art.'”

About the Denim Craft Vide
Denim Craft aims to shed light on the beauty of the denim manufacturing process and illustrate how much effort by individual craftsman goes into every single pair of jeans. Dean Bradshaw directed the short with the intention of capturing the beauty and intricacy of each stage in highly stylized abstraction.
Similarly to the intricacy of the denim process, Denim Craft was collaboration of extremely talented individuals. David Andreini in association with Cutters Studios edited the piece in a way to showcase the process in a linear fashion but aimed to accurately portray each process from an alluring vantage point the viewer has not seen before. To complement the video Snacky Pierce, a respected sound engineer aimed to approach the composition in a similar way. Pierce took a blend of production effects and orchestral derived recordings and deconstructed the sounds to create an abstracted visceral experience. To tie the video together and solidify the artistic atmosphere Gregory Reese in collaboration with The Mill studios creatively colored the short to illuminate key elements throughout the denim production process while shrouding others in an attempt to incite curiosity.
