Leading Finnish Design House Vallila Interior Announces Its Spring/Summer 2016 Collection
Taking inspiration from the streets of New York, as well as from natural Scandinavian life, Vallila’s new collection “Etäisyydet” (Distances) artfully encapsulates the excitement of a new season in an exquisite range of fabrics and home décor products.
The collection, by Helsinki-based design house Vallila, evokes all the freshness and atmosphere of spring and summer with an intense injection of colors and textures. Created by Vallila designers Tanja Orsjoki, Matleena Issakainen, Riina Kuikka and Saara Kurkela, the prints showcase urban as well as pastoral landscapes and create contrasts between the past and the present.
The Distances theme is most clearly demonstrated in the New York prints – New York is a place where different cultures and lifestyles come together and the young and old meet. The prints highlight the urban atmosphere full of contrasts, the fast pace of the city, and the classic New York style. The natural backdrop of the Scandinavian forests, meadows and lake shores create a sense of Nordic freshness that runs through many of the designs in the collection, balancing out the urban monochrome.
The collection brings out the loved and typical characteristics of Vallila: large-scale prints full of beautiful illustrations, nostalgic city prints and abstract patterns.
The spring-summer palette is dominated by fresh white with blue, turquoise, yellow and green, as well as pink accents typical for Vallila. Black-and-white and white-in-white color schemes are featured in several designs.
Inspiring collaborations, towels introduced as a new product category.
The collection also includes a special collection of the design classics of the renowned and beloved Finnish fabric designer Marjatta Metsovaara (1927–2014).
The collection also includes a design with Noora Västinen, inspired by her books, that represents the power of joy and friendship. Vallila’s collaboration with Tikkurila, that combines their wall paints and Vallila’s fabrics continues, as will one of the designs from the successful collection by Minna Parikka, Pupulus, in new colors.
Vallila’s product range now includes also towels as well as fabrics, curtains, rugs, valances, wallpaper, cushions, shower curtains, bed linen, bedspreads, textile bags, kitchen accessories and mugs.
Products will be available through reputable retailers starting of January 2016.
