“Life Through Her Lens” the collection began with the photography of Vivian Maier, a mysteriously cloaked Chicago nanny whose work from the 1950s through the 1970s, was discovered in mounds of undeveloped rolls after her death.
Inspired by this embodiment of hidden talent and secret fulfillment, ICB spring summer 2016 reflects the self-confidence of a modern, ICB woman.
Just as Ms. Maier trained a covert lens on her subjects, the ICB woman honors her own point of view, in pieces that play with light, shadow, layers and hidden detail.
Light chases across form in “shadow-pleated” knits. Feather-embroidered oxford shirts lend a playful surprise to a classic. Shadow prints add touches of humor and irony to shifts, jackets and trousers. An asymmetrical “strike match” print is mimicked in hand-crocheted knit dresses.
The picture that develops is one of confidence and playful irony.
