Glowing Glam: Fashion & Style at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards |
Edited by
Senay Topcuoglu
The 2006 MTV Video Music Awards once again hit the music fans. Actor Jack Black hosted the ceremony at New York's Radio City Music Hall on Thursday night.
US rock band Panic! at the Disco won video of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards, beating big names such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Madonna.
But, this year's VMAs came off without a momentous occasion or single dominant talking point, akin to the Britney Spears & Madonna kiss from 2003.
As an all time fan of MTV and VMAs, I was one of those people who didn't find this year's MTV Video Music Awards so entertaining
as the previous shows. But when we talk about fashion, the following stars we selected from the red carpet at VMAs, showed their own styles with their stylish dresses while
form-fitting gowns were all the rage on this year's carpet.
The winning dress of the night should be Christina Aguilera's brilliant,
glamorous
silver Versace gown.
It was really
fabulous.
Fergie's pre-show performance of "London Bridge" put a little English flavor with her Dsquared customized shirt, a half-tie, Burberry short-shorts and knee-high boots. Then she
changed to a Max Azria Atelier which was designed especially for her.
The strangest outfit with a head garb was worn by Jennifer Lopez. She wore a short dress like our moms used to wear in the 70's. It looked like Jennifer was trying to do her best imitation of the VMA Moon Man Award with that silver head garb and matching dress. |
Ciara wore the evening's monster piece; a 100-carat necklace of yellow heart-shaped diamonds worth $1 million !
All is said and done but good music and videos are left to enjoy ourselves. Let's wait and see what the next year's MTV VMAs and red carpet will bring to us.
