Milan Revives the Swinging Sixties with a Stroll Down Carnaby Street

Sex, Money, Glamour Rule at Dolce & Gabbana

Milan Revives the Swinging Sixties with a Stroll Down Carnaby Street By Telegraph.co.uk, September 28, 2006

Carnaby Street is being re-born on the catwalks of Milan Fashion Week. Mini skirts, Chelsea boots, platform shoes and psychedelic prints are the order of the day as Milanese designers embrace the once-famed Swinging London of the 1960s.

Forty years after Mary Quant fired the first broadside in the hemlines war, the thigh-high skirt is re-emerging as the look for spring/summer 2007. Upbeat optimism shone through at Gucci which has very short black A-line dresses, pepped up with criss-crossing bands of red and fuchsia silk, in store for spring-summer 2007. Indeed, the designer even allowed the vivid colours, in both matte and gloss, to run along the legs of straight black pants, even to outline the waist or the pockets on short black skirts...more
Milan Fashion Week Gossip By Times Online, September 29, 2006

How do the fashion pack cope with Milan fashion week when the thermometer hits 30 degrees celsius and all you've packed is 18 pairs of woolly tights, 10-ply cashmere and your winter boots? In my case it didn't matter, seeing as British Airways managed to lose half my luggage on the way to Milan (any  fashionista's worst nightmare come true) and four days later, I still haven't got through to the customer care line to find out where it is - BA press office, are you taking note? Still, other more dedicated journalists (for which, read fashion victims) didn't let the searing sunshine deter them. Yesterday, French Vogue's fashion director Emmanuelle Alt was spotted head to toe in black...more
